G.I. Jobs Releases List of 2013 Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers

G.I. Jobs released its official list of the Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers (MFE) on Thursday, November 8. And the list runs the gamut from CSX, a major railroad company headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, whose trains you may see riding the rails in your town to Hormel, a major food manufacturer based in Minnesota that supports Fisher House Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.

All 100 employers on the list this year have gone beyond simply attempting to hire a veteran here of there; they have leadership development programs, targeted recruiting programs, veterans affinity networks, and support veteran charities. And many of them, like #1 MFE USAA, were hiring veterans long before it was highlighted by the White House Joining Forces program.

G.I. Jobs recently partnered with Orion International, in an effort to help other companies earn spots on subsequent years’ list of MFEs.  An article on NBCNews.com highlights the MFE list and Orion’s partnership with G.I. Jobs. Author Bill Briggs quotes Mike Starich, President of Orion, as saying, “We’re trying to build new programs within a lot of companies that have not been in play with hiring a lot of veterans in the past...And it’s not just for altruistic reasons. They have issues that military veterans can definitely help with." These companies include Hershey’s, Intel, and Mercedes-Benz, to name a few.
