When to Begin Your Transition to a Civilian Career

Making the transition from military to civilian life is an exciting time in the life of a veteran. Your location, career, and compensation are among the many things that will be changing. Many service members come to us asking when they should begin thinking about this transition. Orion usually begins working with military professionals who are approximately 18 months from their planned start date. Based on that timeline, you can use the following checklist as a guide to ensure you are doing everything possible to prepare yourself for success in Corporate America.

  • Conduct an initial phone screen with an Orion Candidate Recruiter to determine initial interests and establish general target locations. Your recruiter will send you an initial preparation packet.
  • Establish your timeline. Let your recruiter know your planned Earliest Start Date.
