Recruiter Spotlight: Nora Liles

Prior to joining the VA Beach Recruiting team at Orion International in January 2011, Nora served with the U.S. Army in Iraq as a contractor. She worked with advisory teams to support the Iraq Federal Police. Nora enjoyed wearing the uniform, going out on missions, and working with Soldiers on a daily basis in Iraq. Nora is married to Charles Liles, a Naval Aviator and 2002 USNA grad, who is currently in graduate school after 11 years of active duty.

If you could give just one piece of career advice to a transitioning military professional, what would it be?

Before starting your job search, communicate with your family and figure out what places work for you. Be open-minded, and don’t limit yourself in terms of job types. Often times, military officers can fit into just about any industry because of their versatile experience in the military. Communicate with your recruiter through the process, and remember that the recruiter’s main goal is to help you find the best job out there for you.

Also, searching for a job requires patience and perseverance. You may not get the first job that you interview for. However, this is a normal part of the process. Keep working hard; our Orion recruiters will definitely be there for you all the way!

What do you like most about working at Orion?

I love being able to help people and make a difference in their lives. Helping our veterans get a job and start their careers outside of the military in tough times like this is truly the most rewarding job that anyone could have. I like helping veterans, because I feel like I am helping the people that I served with in Iraq.

What are you specifically recruiting for at the moment?

I am currently looking for engineers and officers with strong technical and leadership skills for various openings on the east coast. We are also recruiting for our upcoming Distinguished Candidate Conference (DCC) which will be taking place in Baltimore, September 9th & 10th. If you are interested in learning more about this event, please email me.

Please share one interesting fact about yourself that you would like candidates to know.

I love Bulldogs! I have a female bulldog who is only a year-and-a-half old. My husband and I would love to get another bulldog or two in the future!
