Recruiter Spotlight: David Dawson

David Dawson is a native of Dallas, TX, and went to the Naval Academy prep school in 2005. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 2010 with a degree in English and also played varsity football. Commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer and stationed in San Diego with MCM Crew Conflict, David served as the Combat information Center Officer and 1st Lieutenant completing two deployments to Bahrain onboard the USS Pioneer and USS Ardent.

David comes from a wonderful family of four.  His mother served in the Philippines as a medic for the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and his Grandfather served during WWII in the Army.

If you could give just one piece of career advice to a transitioning military professional, what would it be?

Be reasonable, realistic, and respectful in your quest to find employment as you transition.

What do you like most about working at Orion?

Orion really does have a great group of people working out of the San Diego office!  Working with the lead recruiters Tim Duba and Sean Crittenden has been an absolute pleasure. They have been incredibly helpful and have given me plenty of wisdom in helping me do my job to the best of my ability. Its also nice not to have to walk up the brow of a ship early in the morning and eat Navy chow. Not having duty is VERY nice, as well!

Please share one interesting fact about yourself that you would like candidates to know.

I enjoy writing stage plays as a hobby.
