Naval Academy Graduates Find Civilian Careers through Orion’s Free Career Placement Services

Over the years, Orion has helped nearly 400 United States Naval Academy graduates find post-military careers. This track record of success, combined with the experience of many Orion employees who are USNA alumni, gives Orion an edge when it comes to finding the right career for these specially trained Naval and USMC Officers. We are proud of the high-caliber opportunities we have available for Naval Academy Graduates.

Our free services to USNA graduates include resume preparation, transition advice and assistance, interview preparation, and arrangement of interviews for positions that are a match with your background, qualifications, and desires.  As a graduate of the US Naval Academy and an experienced Military Officer, you have many traits that are sought out in the civilian workforce and experience unmatched by your civilian peers, and we’re here to match you with the most dominant list of corporate clients in the industry.

There are multiple ways in which USNA graduates can work with Orion to find a civilian career:
  • Orion's Military Officer Transition Program is a thorough educational program designed to put your preparation 'to do list' in a logical sequence of events to be completed in the months leading up to your transition. The program is comprised of a series of informative webinars, self-paced instruction, interview preparation, and individual calls with your recruiter.
  • Our Distinguished Candidate Conferences are designed to present high growth careers for our top transitioning Officers, and feature Operations Management, Engineering, Leadership Development and Sales roles throughout the nation. Additionally we hold frequent hiring events onsite at our clients' facilities which feature campus tours, meet and greet opportunities, multiple stages of the interview process in a single day, and unmatched insight into the culture and work environment of the company.
  • We also offer the Orion First Partnership Program for outstanding Active Duty Officers who have distinguished themselves from their peers and fellow graduates. This program is your opportunity for unmatched preparation and assistance, as well as early and maximum exposure to our best client companies.

Mark Belanger, a 2007 USNA graduate and District Sales Representative with Nalco, describes his experience working with Orion, and, in particular Orion Recruiter Tim Duba (USNA ’03), “Tim treated me with respect and truly understood what I wanted and needed in a new career.  He always took the time to talk, and returned every single one of my phone calls in a timely manner. The companies he paired me with were spot on, and, as a result, I was able to secure two job offers from the Distinguished Candidate Conference."

Belanger was impressed by the personal service he received from his fellow alumnus: “Tim’s most impressive aspect is his sincerity.  I understood that he is a recruiter, and it is his job to match candidates with positions.  However, I knew that Tim sincerely cared that I made the right choice for me and my family.  Working with Tim was like working with a friend – but always in a professional manner.  I have worked with several other recruiters, and Tim is, without a doubt, the best.”

Patrick Brandon is a 2004 Naval Academy graduate who found that while his military training didn’t directly translate into his new career, it did give him the ability to learn a whole new industry. “As a Technical Support Engineer for a semiconductor test equipment manufacturer, I feel very well-prepared.   I was a former Lieutenant in the Navy with Surface Warfare (nuclear) training and had no experience in the semiconductor industry, but was hired with the assumption that I could be easily trained and would be largely self-directed,” explains Brandon, who has now been with his employer for nearly two years.
