Transitioning out of the military and unsure of your career path in the
civilian world? An Orion Hiring Conference can help you find your next career
opportunity.
I’ve been in the staffing and recruiting industry for two years,
handling marketing and social media campaigns. However, Orion International’s
Military Hiring Conference held in Raleigh, NC last week was my first Military
Hiring Conference.
What
to Expect:
I was impressed to see that the Military Hiring Conference had an
electrifying atmosphere. Employers were eager to meet the candidates, and the
candidates were excited about new career opportunities.
A discussion I had over lunch led to the discovery that military job
seekers and employers felt that career fairs they had previously attended
weren’t particularly helpful for either party. Candidates felt they had not had
the opportunity for meaningful interaction with employers. Employers felt that
although they left with a pile of resumes, they were unfortunately no closer to
finding the right Veterans for their open positions.
The Hiring Conference
It’s Not a Job Fair:
Unlike a job fair, candidates at a hiring conference have individual
interviews in a private setting, for opportunities within America’s finest
companies. Orion works with you to ensure that you are scheduled only for interviews with
Hiring Managers that are a match with your background, skills and preferences.
Conferences are Invitation Only:
Hiring conference are by invitation only for
both employers and veterans. Orion helps save you the time and energy it takes
in finding your next career opportunity after the military. The companies and positions are matched to your
needs and qualifications. As with all of Orion's services, there is no fee of any
kind for our job seekers to attend an Orion Hiring Conference.
The Schedule:
A Hiring Conference is a two day event for Job
Seekers. On the first day, we offer a full day of interview preparation,
briefings on the interviewing companies and positions, and opportunities for
you to network with other job seekers as well as the client companies. In the
evening, there is an informal meet and greet at the hotel, giving you an
opportunity to personally interact with the Hiring Managers, in advance of
interviewing.
On the second day, you will interview with Hiring
Managers from up to five different companies who are seeking military
candidates for their open positions. The interviews typically last 45 minutes
and typically lead to final interviews on-site with the company.
A Military Hiring Conference is the best opportunity to
interview with several companies committed to the hiring process in just a few
days.
